
Muhammad in the last year was ever present in the Lancashire academy Cricket team spear heading the bowling attack as a leg spinner. He also broke into the Lancashire 2nd eleven.
Muhammad was selected as part of the ECB England development squad and later tour South Africa as part of the England under 17 squad. It’s been a fantastic year for Muhammad and Full County and national honours seems certain to follow.


Terri works as assistant head coach for Tameside Netball Club volunteering 15 hours every week. In the last year Terri has coached from the under 6 team right through to the senior team. Her contribution towards the U14’s and U16’s teams was significant in them reaching national finals. Terri has also coached elite level as part of the Greater Manchester County excel programme. As well as her coaching role Terri mentors younger coaches within the club passing on her in-depth knowledge of the game.

Alex volunteers for Tameside sport development and Tameside Titans working over 12 hours per week. Alex also assists coaches at holiday camps and school sessions. Over the last 12 months Alex has won Radio 1 ‘teen Hero award’ and News of the World ‘children’s champion’ in recognition of his volunteering within the community. Alex has also fulfilled the role of young ambassador visiting schools across Tameside to promote the Olympics and Para-Olympics.

Tameside Volleyball club continues to go from strength to strength. The Club now has teams from the under 11’s all the way up to the women’s team in the national league. The club this year received Volleyball England accreditation and Club mark accreditation. The girl’s teams are national champions at Under 14, 15 & 16 levels.
The club have set up two satellite clubs in the borough and established links with surrounding primary schools hosting primary school competition days run by young leaders within the club.

Over the last 30 years Ernie has been involved in sport with Tameside schools and Manchester United. Developing young disabled sports performers both in coaching and mentoring them to reach their absolute potential. I’m sure he can give you a long list of things he has done within sport but a few include coaching, driving mini buses, supplying kit, meeting with parent, sourcing grant aid for disadvantaged children and the list goes on.... Ernie Greenwood or Mr Greenwood to his pupils deserves this award for tireless amount of hours he puts into making a real impact in disability sport across Tameside and Manchester.

In 2010/11 Tameside Hockey 1st team reached for the first time in the clubs history the final of a national competition ‘The England Hockey Vase’. It is also the first hockey club from Greater Manchester to ever reach this stage of the competition. In the same season the team also reached the final of the Cheshire plate for the first time in their history.

Gary Used to weigh 40 stone, he then took up cycling and has now lost 26 stone, what makes his achievement more remarkable is that he hasn’t at anytime had surgery. It all started with a bike and Gary cycling to work which has led to this remarkable achievement. Gary now leads a healthy lifestyle and recently raised money for charity on the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride.
